The hidden gem of Nahargarh Fort

Hi everyone

This post is about my visit to Nahargarh Fort. It offers some breathtaking views of Jaipur city and also has a Sunset point (which is a hidden gem).

The entrance to the fort complex near the parking

Once you reach Nahargarh Fort, you have to buy an entry ticket. It costs RS 100. This gives you access to the different levels of the fort complex. The Terrace offers some great views.

The view from the terrace

After you’re done exploring the multiple levels, proceed to the stepwell. This is the place where they shot Rang de Basanti song masti ki pathshala.

The stepwell

After the stepwell, let’s go to the sunset point. This is a hidden gem. The sunset point is actually a viewing deck in a Rajasthan tourism development corporation (RTDC) restaurant called “Padav”.

There is 100 Rupees entry ticket at Padav and the ticket includes a food voucher worth Rupees 50. Once you enter, quickly take your seat on the viewing deck because it gets crowded during sunset.

Here are a few pictures I clicked from the sunset point:

How to reach: You can reach by your car/bike or you can take a taxi

Best time to visit: October to April

The must try sandwich in Cyberhub, Gurgaon

The sandwich is called “PBT”, which is the acronym for Pulled chicken, Bacon and Tomato. Other than these 3 ingredients, it contains, dollops of Cheddar cheese, spicy mayo and is seasoned with Argurula. All this goodness is served in a toasted multigrain bun. All the fillings mix together to give you a guaranteed foodgasm .

The sandwich is served with fries and serves 2 people.

Must have in Amritsar Series: Number 1, Kadha Parshad at Golden temple

Hi Everyone

I’m starting a new series on must haves in Amritsar. Every day I’ll blog about one item that you must not miss during your Amritsar trip.

The first and foremost, is the Kadha Parshad at Golden Temple. This is a divine treat that not only soothes, but also purifies your soul. The taste? It was too divine to be put in words.

Kadha Parshad is available throughout the day in the Golden Temple premises.

Atari-Wagah border: An unmatched experience

Atari-Wagah Wagah border is the border between India and Pakistan and is approximately 20 km away from the Holy city of Amritsar. Atari is the India side of the border and Wagah is the Pakistan side of the border.

People gathering in the stands to witness the ceremony

The citizens of both the countries start gathering an hour before the sunset, in the stands. A series of activities like dancing, singing patriotic songs and performances by the BSF OFFICERS take place.

Performance by BSF OFFICERS

When the sun sets, BSF officers March towards our National Flag and the Flag is gradually lowered from the hoist. It is then folded and carried away by BSF officers in a small procession.

Here is a video of the Glorious Ceremony

The ceremony gives you a rush of patriotism you wouldn’t experience anywhere else. Therefore I highly recommend attending the ceremony whenever you go to Amritsar.

Cafe with a view: Jaipur

This cafe is located in Malviya Nagar in Jaipur. Whenever I visit Jaipur, I make it a point to visit this cafe. It offers good food and an even better view. It is located opposite WTP.

They serve Indian, Italian, Mexican and Oriental cuisine. Their shakes and bakes and quite popular among customers.

Have a look at some of the pictures:

Stay at Ramada by Wyndham Aligarh GT Road

Yes, the Ramada chain has expanded it’s presence with a new property in Aligarh. The property was opened to public in January 2020. It is located close to the highway.

The check-in process was smooth. The lobby and rooms are spacious. Now I’ll tell you about a few things that I liked and a few things that I think can be improved.

The Lobby

Things that I liked

• They have corporate plans for business travellers.

• The property is spacious

• The hotel is located near the highway and is not in the interiors of the city.

• The food was good.

Dal Makhani with butter naan for dinner

• The hospitality was good.

Things that can be improved

• Driver dormitories can be set up for guests with drivers

• There are no bathtubs in some of the rooms

• More dishes can be added to the breakfast buffet

Naanzza, a deadly combo of Naan + Pizza

Four cheese Naanzza

The Naanzza is a must try dish. It is made like a regular pizza, but the base consists of a butter naan instead of pizza base. The Naanzza shown above is made of ricotta, cheddar, mozzarella cheese & croquette leaves. Just one bite of it will soothe your soul. This is one dish that will surely please your pallette.

Authentic Rajasthani food in Indore

This is a renowned chain, it’s got outlets in Gurgaon and Mumbai as well along with Indore. Yes guys, I’m talking about Panchvati Gaurav. In Indore, you’ll find its outlet in Malhar Mega Mall. The outlet that I visited in my college days has closed now.

When you enter, you’ll be greeted in the traditional Rajasthani way with tilak. Once you make your way to the table, you’ll find a giant thali with multiple small bowls. Once you’re settled, they’ll bring 3 types of chutneys and salads. After that they’ll serve snacks like samosa. Post the snacks they’ll start bringing main course like different types of dals, vegetables, breads etc. When I had gone, they were serving Dal baati churma, one of my favourites.

Once you’re done with the main course, they’ll serve the dessert. I got to eat barfi and Gulab jamun. They’ll also serve either masala chhaachh or jaljeera for drinking. The hospitality is great.

Price: back in the day, I had bought an online voucher that cost me 249 rupees per head. Nowadays, the price would be approximately 500 to 600 rupees per head.

One of the best Vegetarian starters in Gurgaon

What do you do when you’re with your friends who have chicken but you gotta have Vegetarian food that day?

Easy, head to Walking street in sector 29 Gurgaon. The dish I ordered was ” Rajma Kebab”. They were served on mini ulta tawa ka paratha with 2 types of dips (mint dip and spicy dip). The kebab was melt in the mouth and gave mutton kebabs a run for their money.
